Wishing is very human. I have my lottery ticket nearby and my dream house($3.5 million) as a screen saver, lol. Here is a different perspective on wishing. It's the 2 Noble Truth of Buddhism.

The origin of suffering is attachment to transient things and the ignorance thereof. Transient things do not only include the physical objects that surround us, but also ideas, and -in a greater sense- all objects of our perception. Ignorance is the lack of understanding of how our mind is attached to impermanent things. The reasons for suffering are desire, passion, ardour, pursuit of wealth and prestige, striving for fame and popularity, or in short: craving and clinging. Because the objects of our attachment are transient, their loss is inevitable, thus suffering will necessarily follow. Objects of attachment also include the idea of a "self" which is a delusion, because there is no abiding self. What we call "self" is just an imagined entity, and we are merely a part of the ceaseless becoming of the universe.

I used to wish for:

1. A functional utopia/world peace
2. To marry my soul-mate and have many loving children
3. To be a theoretical physicist and create a materially perfect world

I believe #1 was granted when I became a Baha'i. I have since married my soul-mate and and currently have one loving child. And #3,...I thought that a materially perfect world would be disastrous before there was world peace. I thought that people would have more power to cause suffering for others. So I decided to get a Masters in Clinical Psychology to help people strive for excellence and inspire them to become the best they can be! This is in addition to being the best Baha'i, Husband, and Father I can be.

My current wishes are:
1. To have the greatest positive impact on the world as possible at every moment of my life
2. To help my wife's lifelong dream come true (transforming the lives of the girls in her country "The Gambia" West Africa by providing them with an advanced education from preschool to graduates school
3. To see what Badi saw when Baha'u'llah revealed himself to him. This caused Badi to increase his love and obedience to God and to give his own life for the happiness and well-being of world.

Thank you for sharing your heart's desire! Be well!!!

David :)
