if an old git like me can learn to use it... why not y'all?

If you are writing something here - presumably you want others to read it.
If you want others to read it then it makes sense to make it easy to read.
using <
> can make this happen
in your submissions

(there's no excuse for not hitting return in thread boxes)

@dancingplatypus DOH. I need more link embedding practise, apparently. *blush*

@applegrass If you use blogspot... you can do all the formatting and then preview HTML... it gives a pretty good translation.

@dancingplatypus I just use the firefox addon, btw. Because I cheat. Lemme know when an such a thing is available for chrome (so I can cheat on the gizmo, too).

@applegrass "You used the firefox add-on for that little trick"

I'm a Chrome guy now, but no... just really basic html stuff. But hmmm... that does give me an idea. Ohhh... I hope I don't make the soulpancake gods upset with me -- if this looks like garbage, I apologize.

I wonder if we can do colors and Font size changes

How about a fixed font?

Does
the pre tag work?
let's see

@dancingplatypus Ok, all - this works! Thank you, Platypus.

symbol < b > (together without spaces) will open bold and < / b > (without spaces) will close bold. The same arrangement with "i" instead of "b" will start and end italics. The same with "u" will start and end underline. Finally some formatting possibilities here.

Didn't occur to me to try this. If this works, this is underlined.

@applegrass You can get rid of the cryptic characters by typing your message in wordpad or notepad (or the Mac equivalents) instead of word. Those cryptic characters most often appear with apostrophies/quotation marks. If you want to copy and paste from Word, just remember to go back and re-type the apostrophies/quotation marks, or temporarily change your preferences in Word so that you are not using "smart" punctuation.

You'll have to petition the powers that be for hyperlinks when posting questions.

@dancingplatypus You used the firefox add-on for that little trick... didn't you... admit it, dammit.
Fancy-smancy coding pantsies.
