Where would the world be without the practice of history?

My AP English was saying the other day that Literature is everything, and I thought to myself: Well, where would the study of Literature be without historical allusions and historical background? You may as well omit 3/4 of Shakespeare's plays. So then I applied it to everything else. If nobody ever practiced history, the recording of events and thoughts for future generations to use, where would the world be now?

blah

Doomed and sad that we never knew the bravery and astonishing acts of our ancetors

Personally I think we would be lost because one of the most important things about history is that we learn from our mistakes. So if theres no history the mistake are gone and we don't learn, and we just repeat them, which is so not good. Really I like world history but not u.s history , I don't know why I threw that last part it but oh wells it already there no need to press the back space button. =]

I looked at the picture and thought, 'Hey, look! It's Ryan!" But then, all I have to go on is his blue icon picture. Maybe I've had too much coffee.

Where would we be if generations before us had not written down thier thoughts and ideas for us to see? We would be wondering what did the people of yore used to think about? We wouldn't know if nobody had set pen to paper to tell us. I look at a handprint painted in the wall of a cave in France and I am in aw of the person who made that. It took no words, no language to say, 'I was here and I am human.'.

Hey, look! I was here and I typed this.! Cool! Now back to my coffee.
