I guess some people are just afraid to get hurt. Even by a stranger that just said hello.
why should we have to love someone who does stupid things? If a person is an idiot and shows no sign of improvement, then I won't love him. it'd be over. We strive for unconditional love so that we don't have to hear the scary and messy word divorce. The real issue lies in finding someone who's faults you are willing to deal with. That's when you can love unconditionally. It's difficult because most people make really poor decisions as to who they spend their time with.
I don't know. Maybe because we always expect something from everyone else.
Because we don't experience it enough for ourselves, which can make it hard to show it to others.
Because the ego is in control when we love conditionally--we're trying to make ourselves feel better rather than standing in the other person's shoes.
I think because we tend towards selfishness. I had a lot of trouble with unconditional love but I've gotten better at it with practice! It's not hard to love my kids that way, but I had to learn how to do it with my husband.
