[CHALLENGE: FRUGAL ARTIST]

:: photographs and art by Mui-Ling Teh

Artist Mui-Ling Teh, at the ripe age of 23, hasn’t yet made 2,000 micro-origami cranes from just one piece of paper, but she estimates she’s about halfway there. Teh folds cranes from 5mm x 5mm squares clipped from a single sheet and uses the end origami as inspirational subject matter for her photography. It’s fantastically tedious but wonderfully original, making us wonder what else could emerge from a single sheet of paper, a pair of scissors, and the artistic mind.

1. Get a piece of paper and scissors. (Tweezers are OK, but no tape, glue, pens, or markers.)
2. Transform 2D into 3D and create art.
3. Take a photo, and link to it here. (Don't embed or YOU will get microfolded.)

This crane is worth at least five dollars.

I just had an idea that involves no scissor or origami, well, maybe a little paper folding and a blade.
1. a piece of paper
2. cut 2 or 3 slices of equal length in the middle of paper, which ever direction you prefer, But Don't cut through.
3. fold one slice up and the next one down,in the middle, repeat this until all slices are folded.
4. I think if someone here follow this instruction, you'll get something kinda like a pen-holder except not, too thin!
5. I'll make one myself as soon as I can...but I wouldn't count on it.

FANTASTIC!! Totally amazing what will turn people on creatively. I'm going to read a new book [ A whole new mind : moving from the information age to the conceptual age
Author: Pink, Daniel H. ] that actually talks about this type of thinking.

I really love this picture. The lines in your hands are amazing. It's almost like it could tell a story.

These paper swans that I made have been hanging from the ceiling of my bedroom for about a month now. There are 8 swans in total. I also have a few paper planes hanging in another corner of my room. An easy, inexpensive way to decorate (especially for a university student on a tight budget)!
